Kataka: In a thrilling encounter at the Barabati Stadium, Keonjhar Miners secured a 26-run victory against Kataka Panthers in the Odisha T20 League – CM Trophy. The standout performance came from pacer Vageesh Sharma, who took four wickets, complemented by solid half-centuries from Rajesh Dhupar and Sujal Singh.

Choosing to bat first, Keonjhar Miners set a challenging target of 187 runs, finishing their innings at 187/8. Despite an early loss, Dhupar (58 runs off 40 balls) and captain Subhranshu Senapati (36 runs off 21 balls) formed a crucial 82-run partnership for the second wicket.

Kataka Panthers struggled to contain the scoring, even as they took wickets during the middle overs. Sujal's impressive unbeaten knock of 42 runs off 30 balls helped Keonjhar finish strong. Biplab Samantray was the pick of the bowlers for Kataka, with economical figures of 1-26 in four overs.

In their chase, Kataka Panthers faltered early, finding themselves at 48/3. Although Samantray and Kartik Biswal attempted to stabilize the innings with a 29-run partnership, Biswal was dismissed for a quick 22 runs off 13 balls.

Vageesh's exceptional bowling turned the match in favor of Keonjhar, as he dismantled partnerships and ended with figures of 4-33. Kataka's lower order couldn't keep pace with the required run rate, leading to their all-out score of 161.

After the match, Vageesh expressed his satisfaction, stating, "It feels good to contribute to the team’s victory. Taking wickets at important moments gives me confidence, and I’m happy that my effort helped Keonjhar secure the win." He was awarded Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.

Earlier in the day, the match between Rourkela Superstars and Bhubaneswar Tigers was called off due to heavy rain, with no play possible.
