Kapil Dev Rates Ravindra Jadeja Higher Than Ben Stokes as All-Rounder
Kapil Dev's Take on All-Rounders
New Delhi [India] - On July 26, former World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev expressed his belief that Ravindra Jadeja surpasses England's captain Ben Stokes as an all-rounder. During a recent statement, Kapil remarked, “While Ben Stokes is indeed a talented all-rounder, I maintain that Ravindra Jadeja is superior.”
He further emphasized, “Jadeja continues to deliver exceptional performances.”
In a remarkable display during the Manchester Test against India, Ben Stokes celebrated reaching 7,000 Test runs with an impressive six on Day 4. As of now, Stokes has accumulated 7,032 runs in 115 Test matches, boasting an average of 35.69, which includes 14 centuries and 35 fifties across 206 innings, with a personal best of 258.
Stokes has now joined an elite group of only three all-rounders in Test cricket history to achieve the milestone of 7,000 runs and 200 wickets, alongside legends Sir Garfield Sobers and Jacques Kallis, as reported by the ICC.
In his recent innings, Stokes scored 141 runs off 198 balls, featuring eleven boundaries and three sixes.
On the Indian side, Jadeja excelled with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 143 runs, marking him as India's standout bowler in the first innings.
Currently, Jadeja ranks as the seventh-highest run-scorer in the ongoing series, amassing 347 runs in seven innings at an impressive average of 86.75, including a top score of 89 and four half-centuries. However, his bowling performance has been less impactful, with seven wickets at an average of 67.71.
Tests are Jadeja's strongest format, where he has scored 3,697 runs in 83 matches, including four centuries and 26 fifties, with a highest score of 175*. He has also taken 326 wickets in Test cricket.
