Jose Mourinho Returns to Real Madrid as Head Coach Until 2029
Mourinho's Comeback to Madrid
Madrid, Spain - June 12: Real Madrid has officially announced the return of renowned manager Jose Mourinho, who will lead the team until 2029 after a season without trophies in 2025-26.
Mourinho, who previously managed the club from 2010 to 2013 and secured a La Liga title, is set to rejoin on July 13, just before the 15-time European champions kick off their pre-season training.
A statement from Real Madrid confirmed, "The Board of Directors of Real Madrid CF convened today, June 11, under the leadership of Florentino Perez, and has decided to appoint Jose Mourinho as the first team coach for the next three seasons, concluding on June 30, 2029."
They further noted, "Jose Mourinho will arrive at Real Madrid on July 13, coinciding with the start of the preseason."
Prior to this, Mourinho had a one-year tenure with Benfica. Throughout his career, he has led various clubs to significant achievements, including Porto (2002-04), Chelsea (2004-07), Inter Milan (2008-2010), Manchester United (2016-18), Tottenham Hotspur (2019-21), AS Roma (2021-24), and Fenerbahce (2024-25).
His impressive accolades feature three Premier League titles and an FA Cup with Chelsea, along with a La Liga and Copa Del Rey with Real Madrid, two Serie A titles, and a UEFA Champions League victory with Inter Milan.
Florentino Perez has successfully secured another term as president of Real Madrid, winning 65 percent of the votes after calling for an election last month due to the team's trophyless season. One of his campaign promises was to bring Mourinho back to the club.
