Jos Buttler Poised for Comeback as Gujarat Titans Face Rajasthan Royals

Jos Buttler, the star wicketkeeper-batter for Gujarat Titans, is currently facing a challenging phase in his career, but assistant coach Aashish Kapoor believes a turnaround is imminent. Following a disappointing T20 World Cup and a slow start to IPL 2026, Buttler's performance is under scrutiny. However, Kapoor's confidence in Buttler's abilities suggests that a comeback is on the horizon. As the Titans prepare to face Rajasthan Royals, all eyes will be on Buttler to see if he can reclaim his form and lead his team to victory.

Buttler's Form Under Scrutiny

Despite experiencing an unusual slump in performance, Aashish Kapoor, the assistant coach for Gujarat Titans, expresses optimism regarding Jos Buttler's imminent resurgence. With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 still in its early stages, the franchise is confident that Buttler will soon regain his form.

Buttler's recent challenges have come into focus following a lackluster T20 World Cup, where he scored only 87 runs across eight innings. His IPL 2026 debut was also disappointing, managing just 38 runs off 33 balls in a loss to Punjab Kings. Nevertheless, the team management is not overly concerned about these statistics at this point.

Support from the Coaching Staff

As the Titans gear up for their match against Rajasthan Royals, Kapoor voiced his confidence in Buttler's ability to bounce back, noting that elite players often navigate through such rough patches. “He’s a top player, and there’s no doubt about it. I don’t think you people doubt that either. Yeah, he had a bad 1-1.5 months, which can happen to any player, and has happened to most top-class players, including Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, who had such patches. But these players always come back,” Kapoor remarked.

He emphasized the determination and pride that top athletes possess, suggesting that Buttler's recent performance indicates a potential return to form. “Now, he must be really eager because such players have great pride in themselves to do well. You could see the way he batted in the last match as well, trying to apply himself and wanting to make a statement that he’s back in form. It’s a matter of one innings for such players to return to form, and I think he’s on the right path, so it shouldn’t be a problem,” he added.

Buttler's Impressive Track Record

Even during this challenging phase, Buttler's credentials in white-ball cricket remain stellar. He holds the record as England’s leading run-scorer in T20 Internationals, with a total of 4037 runs from 155 matches. His contributions at the franchise level have also been noteworthy, having scored 538 runs in 14 matches for Gujarat Titans during IPL 2025.

As Gujarat Titans prepare to clash with Rajasthan Royals on April 4, all eyes will be on Buttler. The Royals come into the match with momentum after a decisive victory over Chennai Super Kings, while GT is eager to secure their first win of the season.
