At Lord's, where cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar rang the famous bell and thousands of fans gathered, Bairstow finally received his due. He became the 17th English cricketer to achieve the 100-Test milestone, joining the ranks of Graham Thorpe and Andrew Strauss, who also played exactly 100 Tests. The record for the most Tests played by an English cricketer is held by former pacer James Anderson, who has participated in 188 matches.

Reflecting on Bairstow's Career

Throughout his career, Bairstow has amassed 6,042 runs in Test cricket, including 12 centuries and 26 half-centuries. However, his performance dipped in 2024, as he failed to score a fifty in his last Test series and was subsequently replaced by Jamie Smith, who excelled both as a batsman and wicketkeeper.

Since then, Bairstow has been absent from the international scene, missing out on England's white-ball teams. His last appearance was in the semifinal of the 2024 T20 World Cup against India.
