John Cena is making a highly anticipated return to WWE television on July 18 during SmackDown, marking his first appearance since defending his title in Saudi Arabia. He will face off against Cody Rhodes, who earned a title shot at SummerSlam 2025 after winning the King of the Ring tournament. This event will be historic as it will be the first two-night SummerSlam, taking place at MetLife Stadium. Fans are eager to see how Cena's rivalry with Rhodes unfolds as they prepare for their championship match.

John Cena's Upcoming WWE Appearance

Next week, John Cena will make his return to WWE television during the Friday Night SmackDown broadcast on the USA Network. This appearance marks his first since defending the WWE Championship in Saudi Arabia and will be his only WWE engagement for the month of July.

During the previous episode, it was revealed that both the Undisputed WWE Champion, John Cena, and his SummerSlam opponent, Cody Rhodes, will be present for a face-off segment. This highly anticipated encounter is scheduled for the July 18 SmackDown episode in San Antonio, Texas.

At the Night of Champions 2025 event, John Cena successfully defended his title against CM Punk, marking their 15th televised match, with Cena leading their rivalry 7-6. The victory was not without controversy, as Seth Rollins' interference played a crucial role.

Cody Rhodes Earns Title Shot at SummerSlam

Cody Rhodes secured his position as the number-one contender for the WWE Championship during the same Night of Champions event, winning the King of the Ring tournament. He triumphed over his former mentor, Randy Orton, in the final match.

WWE SummerSlam 2025 will be a historic two-night event, taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on August 2 and 3. The match between John Cena and Cody Rhodes for the WWE Title is the first confirmed bout for this summer's premium live event.

Additionally, Jade Cargill, the 2025 Queen of the Ring winner, is set to challenge Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship. However, Stratton must first defend her title against Trish Stratus at the upcoming Evolution event.
