Jasprit Bumrah Shines with Five-Wicket Haul as India Faces England
Bumrah's Stellar Performance
Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar praised Jasprit Bumrah for his impressive five-wicket haul, while also noting that bad luck and fielding errors prevented him from taking even more wickets.
Bumrah showcased his skills once again, leading India to a narrow six-run advantage over England by taking five wickets and helping to dismiss them for 465 runs by the end of the second session.
Tendulkar's Congratulations
In a post on X, Tendulkar expressed his admiration, stating, "Congratulations Bumrah! A no-ball and three missed opportunities stood between you and nau wickets."

Bumrah's Bowling Stats
Despite Bumrah's excellence, he faced setbacks as Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped catches of Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, and Harry Brook. He had dismissed Brook for a duck, but it was ruled a no-ball. Bumrah's final figures were 5 wickets for 83 runs in 24.4 overs, maintaining an economy rate of 3.36.
This performance marked Bumrah's tenth five-wicket haul in SENA nations, making him the first Indian to achieve this milestone. With two more five-wicket hauls, he could surpass the legendary Wasim Akram's record of 11.
Bumrah Equals Kapil Dev's Record
Bumrah's five-wicket haul also marked his 12th in away Tests, tying him with former captain Kapil Dev. Bumrah's achievement is notable given his lower number of Test matches played (34) compared to Kapil's 66. His five-wicket hauls include four in Australia, three in England, three in South Africa, and two in the West Indies, with only two occurring in India.
England's Batting Efforts
At the start of the second session, England was at 327/5, with Harry Brook (57*) and Jamie Smith (29*) at the crease. Brook continued his aggressive batting, while Smith contributed 40 runs off 52 balls, including five fours and a six. Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse also added valuable runs.
Brook narrowly missed a century, finishing with 99 runs off 112 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes. Bumrah (5/83) and Prasidh Krishna (3/128) were the standout bowlers as England was bowled out for 465, just six runs behind India's first innings total of 471.
India's Strong Start
On the first day, England won the toss and chose to bowl first. India capitalized on this decision with centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal (101 runs), captain Shubman Gill (147 runs), and Rishabh Pant (134 runs), leading to a total of 471 runs. However, England's bowlers Ben Stokes (4/66) and Josh Tongue (4/86) managed to trigger a collapse at one point.
