Bumrah's Historic Performance at Lord's

On July 11, during the second day of the third Test match between India and England, Jasprit Bumrah made history by securing his first five-wicket haul at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London. After previously taking five wickets in the first innings of the opening Test at Headingley, he was rested for the second Test at Edgbaston. However, he returned to form at the Home of Cricket, delivering an impressive performance on a pitch that was not as conducive to fast bowling as anticipated.

Bumrah's day began with a remarkable delivery that dismissed the formidable Harry Brook on Day 1. He continued his fiery spell on Day 2, taking out Ben Stokes, Joe Root, and Chris Woakes within just seven balls. He nearly achieved a hat-trick in the fifth over after bowling out Root and Woakes in consecutive deliveries, but Brydon Carse managed to defend the hat-trick ball.

Following Bumrah's exceptional bowling, England's score plummeted from 260/4 to 271/7. Carse, however, countered with a vital partnership of 84 runs alongside Jamie Smith, which helped stabilize the innings. Mohammed Siraj eventually broke this partnership by dismissing Smith for 51 runs. Shortly after, Bumrah claimed his fifth wicket by getting Jofra Archer out.

With this outstanding performance, Bumrah etched his name on the prestigious honours board at Lord's. Fans have been lauding the right-arm pacer for his remarkable achievement, which played a crucial role in restricting England to a total of 387 runs. Bumrah concluded the innings with impressive figures of 5 for 74 in 27 overs.
