Sinner Claims First Wimbledon Title

New Delhi [India] - On July 14, former Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar praised Jannik Sinner after the young Italian star defeated Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz to clinch his first Wimbledon title.

The 23-year-old Sinner secured his fourth Grand Slam title, adding to his previous victories at the Australian Open and the US Open, by overcoming Alcaraz with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in a match filled with skill and intensity.

In a post on his official X account, Tendulkar remarked, "A match worthy of a Wimbledon Final, both Sinner and Alcaraz pushed each other to their limits. Congratulations, Sinner, you are now part of an elite group. Well played, Alcaraz; many more finals await you."

Despite losing the first set, Sinner showcased remarkable precision in his groundstrokes. Alcaraz started strong, displaying aggressive play and effective drop shots, managing to recover from a 2-4 deficit in the first set.

However, Sinner rallied back to win the next three sets, ultimately securing the championship. Throughout the tournament, he had only dropped 17 games in his initial three matches and faced a significant challenge in the fourth round when Grigor Dimitrov had to retire due to injury while leading.

Although Sinner required medical attention for his elbow, he persevered against both Ben Shelton and Novak Djokovic, marking his fifth appearance in a Grand Slam final.

After the match, Sinner expressed his admiration for Alcaraz, stating, "Playing against you is incredibly challenging. Thank you for being the player you are. We have a fantastic relationship both on and off the court. Keep pushing, and you will lift this trophy many more times; you already have two titles to your name," he encouraged Alcaraz.
