Inauguration of Pickleball Court in Ramban

In a notable advancement for fitness and sports infrastructure, the 84 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has launched Jammu and Kashmir's inaugural pickleball court in Ramban. This facility was inaugurated during the Shaurya Diwas celebrations and is part of a larger initiative aimed at promoting physical health and community involvement among personnel, despite their rigorous security responsibilities.

Commandant N. Ranbir Singh emphasized the critical role of physical fitness within the force, highlighting that personnel often work under strenuous conditions with limited opportunities for leisure. To combat this, the battalion has established a comprehensive range of facilities, including 21 modern gyms, an open gym available to all, and various sports amenities catering to multiple disciplines.

“Physical fitness is essential for every officer. With this in mind, we have built extensive facilities at the 84 Battalion in Ramban. Our personnel dedicate long hours to road security, leaving little time for exercise. We have installed 21 state-of-the-art gyms, which are utilized by 30-40 individuals daily, along with an open gym for everyone. Our sports offerings now include volleyball, handball, basketball, lawn tennis, badminton, and the newly inaugurated pickleball court, which was opened on Shaurya Diwas,” Singh stated.

He further noted that the addition of pickleball signifies the force's commitment to adopting new sports while enhancing overall preparedness. “Pickleball is a rapidly growing sport, and this addition underscores our dedication to fitness. As the largest internal security force in India, the CRPF leverages extensive experience from various conflict zones across the nation. Our training and fitness facilities ensure that personnel remain confident and ready to tackle any challenges,” he added.

This initiative aligns with the increasing popularity of pickleball in India, especially in the aftermath of the pandemic. The sport has witnessed a surge in participation at both recreational and competitive levels, with new courts and leagues emerging nationwide, solidifying its position in India's dynamic sports scene.
