In his IPL debut, Jacob Duffy made a significant impact by taking three wickets, leading Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to a six-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Duffy credited his performance to insights gained from Josh Hazlewood and emphasized the importance of maintaining a consistent hard length while bowling. He also acknowledged the bounce of the Bengaluru pitch and expressed gratitude to his captain, Rajat Patidar, for the opportunity to play.

Duffy's Humble Approach

"What a fantastic way to kick off the season! It was a great win. I’m just filling in for the big guy, Hazlewood. My focus was on bowling hard lengths and keeping the ball in the right areas. It was even better to leave the field after seven overs. We discussed the effective lengths for this pitch," Duffy remarked after receiving the Player of the Match award.

"I’m definitely tired of bowling to Abhishek. The bounce we experienced today was unlike anything I’ve seen in India before. Rajat told me to keep going, and I was more than happy to oblige. The new ball is the best time to bowl on this surface," he added.

SRH's Resilient Performance

Despite an early collapse, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to post a competitive total of 201 runs for 9 wickets in their IPL 2026 opener. After losing three quick wickets during the power play, Ishan Kishan's impressive innings and crucial contributions from other players helped Hyderabad surpass the 200-run mark.
