Ishan Kishan's Explosive 91 Leads Sunrisers Hyderabad to 216 Against Rajasthan Royals
Kishan's Fiery Performance After a Rough Start
Ishan Kishan's explosive innings of 91, along with contributions from Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy, propelled Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to a total of 216/6 in their 20 overs against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Hyderabad on Monday. SRH aims to defend this score to secure their second victory of the tournament.
SRH's Troubled Beginning
After being asked to bat first, SRH faced a disastrous start as Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a golden duck, attempting a big shot against a short delivery from Jofra Archer. However, Ishan Kishan and Travis Head quickly turned the tide, with Kishan hitting two sixes and a four in the third over.
During the powerplay, SRH capitalized on the pace attack from Archer, Sandeep Sharma, and Nandre Burger, reaching the 50-run mark in just 5.5 overs.
At the end of the powerplay, SRH stood at 51/1, with Head (16*) and Kishan (35*) still at the crease.
Middle Overs Dominance by Kishan and Klaasen
Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen continued to score freely, each hitting a six against Ravi Bishnoi in the 10th over, bringing SRH to 89/2 at the halfway mark, with Kishan on 56* and Klaasen on 14*.
Kishan reached his second fifty of the season in just 30 balls, featuring two fours and five sixes.
In the 11th over, Ishan attacked Tushar Despande, hitting him for three fours and a six, helping SRH cross the 100-run mark in 10.3 overs.
The pair established a solid 50-run partnership in just 24 balls.
Key Partnership Comes to an End
The 88-run partnership was broken by Sandeep Sharma, who executed a remarkable caught-and-bowled dismissal of Kishan, who scored 91 off 44 balls, including eight fours and six sixes. SRH was then at 154/3 in 13.2 overs.
Klaasen soon followed Kishan, unable to elevate a lofted shot, and was caught by Parag at extra-cover for 40 runs off 26 balls, which included one four and three sixes. Deshpande claimed his first wicket, leaving SRH at 162/4 in 15.5 overs.
Late Surge Pushes SRH Past 200
In the 17th over, Nitish Kumar Reddy attacked Sandeep Sharma, scoring three sixes and a four, resulting in 24 runs from that over.
Archer ended the brief partnership of 33 runs by dismissing Nitish, who scored 28 runs off 13 balls, featuring four sixes. SRH was at 195/5 in 18.3 overs.
Jofra was hit for a massive six by Salil Arora, helping SRH reach the 200-run mark in 19 overs.
Aniket Verma was run out for just six runs, leaving SRH at 209/6 in 19.4 overs.
SRH concluded their innings at 216/6, with Salil remaining unbeaten on 24 off 13 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Archer was the standout bowler for RR, taking 2 wickets for 37 runs, while Deshpande, Sandeep, and Riyan each claimed one wicket.
