Ishan Kishan to Lead Jharkhand in Upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy

The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) has officially announced that star wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan will captain the Jharkhand team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite (VHT) 2025/26 season. The tournament is set to commence on December 24, with Jharkhand's opening match against Karnataka taking place in Ahmedabad.


Alongside Kishan, the Jharkhand squad for the VHT 2025-26 season includes players such as Kumar Kushagra, Anukul Roy, Robin Minz, Abhinav Saran, and Virat Singh.


Jharkhand's team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26 features: Ishan Kishan (Wicketkeeper and Captain), Virat Singh, Utkarsh Singh, Kumar Kushagra (Wicketkeeper and Vice-Captain), Robin Minz, Anukul Roy, Sharandeep Singh, Shikhar Mohan, Pankaj Kumar (Wicketkeeper), Bala Krishna, MD Kounain Qureshi, Shub Sharma, Amit Kumar, Manishi, Abhinav Saran, Sushant Mishra, Vikas Singh, Saurabh Shekhar, Rajandeep Singh, and Shubham Singh.


Ishan Kishan had an outstanding performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025/26, leading the team to its first-ever SMAT title. He scored 517 runs in 10 innings at an impressive average of 57.44, which included two centuries and two half-centuries. Notably, he played a crucial match-winning innings of 101 runs in the final against Haryana, securing the trophy for his team.


Following his remarkable performance in the SMAT, Kishan has been recalled to the Indian team for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. He will serve as the second wicketkeeper-batsman after Sanju Samson. Surya Kumar Yadav will captain the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, while Shubman Gill, who was the vice-captain, has been dropped due to fitness and form concerns, with Axar Patel returning to the vice-captaincy role.
