Irfan Pathan Praises LSG's Commitment to Injured Players

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has expressed admiration for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for their decision to retain Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan, despite their recent injury challenges. Mayank has only participated in six matches over the last two seasons, while Mohsin was sidelined for the entire IPL 2025 due to injuries. LSG has shown confidence in both players by keeping them on the roster for 11 and 4 crores, respectively. Pathan emphasized that it is now crucial for these bowlers to justify the franchise's trust by performing well this season. Mayank has recently played a few matches for India A in T20 World Cup warm-ups, whereas Mohsin has not been seen in competitive action since December 2024. Pathan remarked, 'Mayank Yadav has played six matches in two years; it is not enough. He is a retained player and must be available this year. If he cannot find a spot in the team, that is a different issue. The franchise has supported him. Mohsin Khan missed last year entirely, and even in previous seasons, he has not played consistently. Yet, they have been backed; no other franchise does this. I have seen KKR and MI do it, but many franchises lose patience after one or two seasons,' during his discussion on his YouTube channel.

Focus on Local Talent as LSG Prepares for IPL 2026

As LSG gears up for IPL 2026, they boast a formidable squad, but the performance of their Indian bowlers will be pivotal. With international stars like Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran in the lineup, LSG can only field one overseas bowler. This situation places significant pressure on local talents such as Mohammad Shami, Avesh Khan, Prince Yadav, and Naman Tiwari, whose performances will be critical in determining the success of LSG's campaign. The team is set to kick off their season against the Delhi Capitals at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
