Iraq's Final Warm-Up Match Ends in Defeat

In a recent friendly match held in Bridgeville, Illinois, Iraq experienced a 2-0 loss to Venezuela as part of their preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The South American team took an early lead in the 17th minute when Cristian Casseres scored from close range.

Venezuela extended their lead shortly after the second half began, with Casseres again playing a pivotal role. He regained possession and assisted striker Jesus Ramirez, who skillfully maneuvered past a defender before delivering a powerful shot that found the back of the net.

Iraq's situation worsened in the 72nd minute when forward Ali Youssef received a straight red card, leaving his team with only ten players. Despite this setback, Iraq is set to make their World Cup finals appearance for the first time in four decades, starting their Group I campaign against Norway on June 17, followed by matches against France and Senegal.

In another warm-up match, Saudi Arabia concluded their preparations with a goalless draw against a ten-man Senegal. Under the guidance of coach Giorgos Donis, Saudi Arabia made several substitutions in the second half after starting with a strong lineup. They created early opportunities, including a close attempt by Musab Al Juwayr in the 10th minute.

Senegal also had chances to score through players Lamine Camara and Nicolas Jackson but could not find the net, resulting in a 0-0 draw. Saudi Arabia will kick off their Group H campaign against Uruguay on June 16, while Senegal will face France in their opening match before taking on Norway and Iraq.
