Emotional Message from Iran's Team

In a heartfelt gesture, Iran's national football squad left a touching note for their supporters in the locker room of SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles following their FIFA World Cup 2026 match against Belgium. The team expressed their gratitude for the unwavering support from fans and shared their pride in their performances.

As reported by a local news agency, the players penned a handwritten message for their fans after their second group-stage encounter.

The note conveyed, "From the ancient Persia of thousands of years ago to the modern Iran of today, the spirit of Iran remains vibrant and strong."

It continued, "We arrived in Los Angeles with pride, competed honorably, and depart with dignity. Thank you, Los Angeles, for your warm welcome. We also extend our gratitude to every Iranian who poured their heart, voice, and soul into supporting us during these 180 minutes. May peace, respect, and friendship thrive among all nations."

This gesture followed a commendable start to Iran's World Cup journey. Team Melli kicked off Group G with an exciting 2-2 draw against New Zealand and followed it up with a hard-fought goalless draw against Belgium.

The match against Belgium was significantly influenced by the remarkable performance of goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand, who made several key saves to thwart the European team. The 33-year-old keeper recorded seven saves, including four diving stops and three high claims, effectively preventing an estimated 1.70 goals during the match.

Beiranvand's outstanding display earned him the Superior Player of the Match accolade as Iran secured a crucial point against Belgium, who finished the match with ten players after Nathan Ngoy received a red card in the 66th minute.

With two draws in their first two matches, Iran currently holds the second position in Group G, keeping their hopes alive for a spot in the Round of 32. Egypt tops the group after defeating New Zealand, while Belgium is in third place and New Zealand sits at the bottom.

Iran is set to head to Seattle for their final group-stage match against Egypt on Saturday, where a favorable outcome could lead to their advancement to the knockout stages.
