Iran's National Football Team Celebrated for Resilience After World Cup Exit
Iran's Team Commended for Their Spirit
Tehran, June 29 – The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baqaei, has expressed admiration for the Iranian national football team following their departure from the FIFA World Cup. He highlighted their unity, resilience, and determination in the face of what he termed "pressure, discrimination, and restrictions."
Baqaei noted that the team remained undeterred by challenges, competing with integrity and spirit while maintaining hope until the very end. He emphasized that, regardless of the outcomes, the team's efforts instilled pride, emotion, and a sense of unity among the nation, reminding everyone of their shared identity and love for Iran.
Iran's journey in the 2026 FIFA World Cup concluded at the group stage after a 1-1 tie with Egypt, alongside a 3-3 draw between Austria and Algeria, sealing their exit from the tournament.

In a post on X, Baqaei praised the Iranian national football team, stating, "Bravo to the Iranian national football team, who, united and resolute, aimed for the 'goal' and did not let inhumane and unprecedented pressures deter them from 'running.'"
He further remarked, "During times when pressure, narrow-mindedness, discrimination, and restrictions made perseverance more challenging than ever, the Iranian national football team demonstrated that true victory lies in overcoming the mindset of surrender and despair. They did not allow restrictions to serve as an excuse, nor did pressures lead to submission. They charged into danger, ran, and until the very last moment, kept hope and kindness alive on the green field through their Iranian ethics and conduct."
Baqaei concluded by stating, "Perhaps more significant than the result was what they provided us during these days: passion, excitement, smiles, and, most importantly, a profound reminder of our shared love for our homeland, 'Iran.'"
Iran finished their Group G campaign with a 1-1 draw against Egypt, anxiously awaiting to see if their three points would qualify them for the round of 32 as one of the best third-placed teams.
