Yuvraj Singh Takes on Coaching Role with Delhi Capitals

On Tuesday, former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was named the assistant and batting coach for the Delhi Capitals as they prepare for the upcoming 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

At 44, Yuvraj boasts an impressive record with 304 One Day Internationals, 40 Test matches, and 58 T20 Internationals under his belt. He is a celebrated World Cup champion and has played a pivotal role in mentoring both seasoned and budding Indian talents, such as Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, and Prabhsimran Singh.

This role marks Yuvraj's inaugural formal coaching position.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Yuvraj stated, "I am thrilled to embark on this new journey with the Delhi Capitals. My long-standing relationship with the franchise and familiarity with the owners makes this opportunity particularly meaningful for me."

He further added, "I am eager to collaborate with Dada as fellow coaches. Coaching is a true passion of mine, and I am excited to work with this exceptionally talented team. I anticipate a thrilling journey ahead and look forward to contributing to the team's achievements."

This appointment also signifies Yuvraj's return to the Delhi franchise. In 2015, he was acquired by the then Delhi Daredevils for a staggering Rs 16 crore, a record that made him the most expensive player in IPL history at that time. He participated in all 14 matches for the franchise that season.
