Virat Kohli Achieves Historic Milestone in IPL

Dharamsala (Himachal Pradesh) [India], May 26: Virat Kohli, the renowned batsman for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has made history by becoming the first player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to achieve four consecutive seasons with over 600 runs.


This remarkable feat was accomplished during the Qualifier match against the Gujarat Titans (GT), where Kohli scored a brisk 43 runs off 25 balls, featuring five boundaries and a six, achieving a strike rate of 172.00.


Throughout the current season, Kohli has played 15 innings, amassing a total of 600 runs with an impressive average of 50.00 and a strike rate of 164.38, marking his highest performance in a single season. His tally includes one century and four half-centuries, with a top score of 105 not out.


After a challenging 2022 season, where he managed only 341 runs in 16 matches at an average of 22.73, Kohli's resurgence in the IPL has been remarkable. His reinvention as a T20 player is particularly noteworthy, especially as he plans to retire from T20 internationals following the 2024 T20 World Cup, showcasing continuous improvement in his performance.


In the 2023 season, Kohli made a strong comeback, finishing with 639 runs in 14 innings, averaging 53.25 and a strike rate of 139.82, including two centuries and six fifties, with a best score of 101 not out, ranking him as the fourth-highest run-scorer of the tournament.


The following season saw him enhance his skills against spin bowling, delivering some of his most powerful six-hitting performances in years. He led the run charts with 741 runs in 15 innings, averaging 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.69, which included one century and five fifties. He also hit 38 sixes, matching his best tally from the 2016 season.


In the last season, Kohli played a crucial role in RCB's title victory, showcasing his adaptability and consistency in various conditions. He finished as the third-highest run-scorer with 657 runs in 15 innings, averaging 54.75 and a strike rate of 144.71, along with eight fifties.


In the match against GT, the latter won the toss and chose to field first. The winner of this match secures a direct place in the final, while the losing team will face the winner of the eliminator match between SRH and RR for the second final spot.
