Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], May 1: The 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi from Rajasthan Royals is just six sixes away from surpassing Abhishek Sharma's record for the most sixes hit by an Indian player in a single Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Sooryavanshi has the opportunity to achieve this remarkable milestone during the upcoming match against Delhi Capitals in Jaipur. In the current IPL 2026 season, he has accumulated 400 runs across nine matches, boasting an impressive average of 44.44 and a striking strike rate of 238.09. His performance includes a century and two half-centuries, with a top score of 103. He has also smashed 34 fours and 37 sixes to date.

Currently, the record for the most sixes by an Indian batter in a single IPL season belongs to Abhishek Sharma, who hit 42 sixes and 36 fours during the 2024 season, scoring 484 runs in 16 innings with an average of 32.26 and a strike rate of 207.21, including a best score of 75*. He ranked as the 10th highest run-scorer in that tournament.

In addition to this potential record, Sooryavanshi is on the brink of another incredible achievement. At just 15 years old, he has already hit 99 sixes in only 27 innings, marking the highest number of sixes by a player in T20 cricket before reaching the age of 20, according to ESPNCricinfo.
