Exciting Opening Day for Abu Dhabi T10
Abu Dhabi, UAE - On November 7, the UAE Bulls, the reigning champions led by West Indies legend Kieron Pollard, will begin their title defense against the Yas Lions, captained by Jason Holder. This highly anticipated opening day will feature all six franchises competing in the tournament.
The 2026 Abu Dhabi T10 tournament will take place at the renowned Zayed Cricket Stadium, showcasing 32 matches until November 20. The opening day will feature a thrilling triple-header, setting the tone for two weeks of intense cricket action. The league stage will culminate in another exciting triple-header on November 19, where all teams will compete, potentially impacting the final standings.
This year's tournament marks a new chapter under the management of Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub (ADCSH).
Pollard's UAE Bulls are set to face the Yas Lions at 3:30 PM Gulf Standard Time (GST), with a formidable lineup that includes Sunil Narine and Romario Shepherd. The Yas Lions, on the other hand, boast players like David Willey, James Vince, and Dasun Shanaka, promising an engaging opening match.
Following this, at 5:45 PM, the Royal Desert Champions, featuring Nicholas Pooran, Phil Salt, and Naseem Shah, will take on the Emirates Eagles. The day will wrap up with the United Tigers, including Fakhar Zaman and Azmatullah Omarzai, going against the Arabian Aces, who have Moeen Ali, Andre Russell, and Liam Livingstone in their ranks at 8:00 PM.
This year's tournament signifies a significant transition for the Abu Dhabi T10, now under government ownership and management, with support from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB). With five new franchise ownership groups joining the defending champions, the competition is poised for long-term growth and enhanced governance.
As the opening day showcases a wealth of international cricket talent, the competition for final spots is expected to heat up as the league stage nears its conclusion on November 19.
The final day of league matches will commence with the UAE Bulls facing the Arabian Aces at 3:30 PM GST, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown between Pollard and Russell. The Yas Lions will then take on the Royal Desert Champions at 5:45 PM, featuring stars Holder and Pooran.
The league stage will conclude with the Emirates Eagles battling the United Tigers at 8 PM, with final standings and qualification spots potentially hanging in the balance until the last match. Only three teams will advance to the tournament's final day, making the race for the top positions incredibly competitive, possibly determined by net run rate.
Matt Boucher, CEO of ADCSH and Abu Dhabi T10, expressed enthusiasm about the tournament's kickoff, stating, "There could hardly be a better way to begin this new chapter of the Abu Dhabi T10 than with our defending champions opening the tournament and all six franchises in action on the very first day. All the competing teams feature outstanding international talent, and the schedule promises exciting cricket from the opening match through to the final."
"What makes this edition particularly exciting is the way the tournament builds towards its conclusion. With all six teams playing on the final day of the league stage, there is every possibility that the race for qualification could go down to the wire. That is exactly the kind of excitement and unpredictability that makes T10 cricket so compelling," he added.
"The 2026 tournament represents a new innings for Abu Dhabi T10. With a fresh franchise structure, some of the biggest names in international cricket, and a clear vision for the future, we are looking forward to delivering an outstanding competition that strengthens Abu Dhabi's reputation as a global destination for cricket and sport," he concluded.
The six teams participating in the tournament - UAE Bulls, Yas Lions, Royal Desert Champions, Emirates Eagles, United Tigers, and Arabian Aces - will engage in a double round-robin league format, with each team playing ten matches.
A total of 30 league matches will be held, with November 12 designated as a rest day. The team finishing first in the standings will qualify directly for the final, while the second and third-placed teams will compete in a qualifier at 4:30 PM GST on November 20. The winner will advance to the final at 6:45 PM GST, concluding the 2026 edition.
All matches will take place at Zayed Cricket Stadium.
