Manchester Super Giants Triumph in Men's Hundred Final

London [UK], August 17: Tim Seifert's explosive half-century propelled the Manchester Super Giants (MSG) to their first Men's Hundred championship, defeating the Trent Rockets by five wickets in the final held at Lord's on Sunday.

Seifert had an outstanding performance, earning both the 'Player of the Match' and 'Player of the Tournament' accolades as he smashed sixes to guide his team in chasing a modest target. Over the course of 10 innings, he accumulated 394 runs, boasting an impressive average of 49.25 and a strike rate of 168.37, including five fifties.

After winning the toss, MSG opted to field first. Ben Duckett contributed 31 runs off 24 balls, forming a partnership of 48 runs with Finn Allen (15). However, the Rockets' batting lineup faltered, collapsing to 95/5, largely due to Noor Ahmed's exceptional spin bowling (3/33). Aneurin Donald managed to score 38 runs off 19 balls, but his dismissal by Noor marked a significant downturn for the team.

Mitchell Santner (20 off 16 balls) and Lewis Gregory (32 off 16 balls) provided some resistance, adding 44 runs for the sixth wicket, which helped the Rockets reach a total of 158/8. Pacer Sonny Baker (2/34) and Josh Tongue (1/27) also played crucial roles in dismantling the Rockets' batting order.

In response, Seifert and Paul Walter (22 off 14 balls) formed a solid opening partnership of 66 runs. Jos Buttler contributed a quick 23 runs off 14 balls, hitting three sixes. Seifert was in phenomenal form, reaching his fifty in just 23 balls, making him the first player to score five fifties in a single tournament edition.

Seifert's final tally was 72 runs off 38 balls, including four boundaries and seven sixes, while Leus du Plooy added an unbeaten 27 runs off 18 balls. With just three runs needed from the last three balls, Liam Dawson sealed the victory with a six, completing the chase with five wickets remaining and two balls to spare.

Mohammad Amir was the standout bowler for the Rockets, finishing with figures of 3/29.
