Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], May 11: Tim David, a player for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has been penalized 30% of his match fee and received two demerit points for violating the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during a thrilling match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, as stated by the league.


The IPL found the Australian cricketer guilty of breaching Article 2.6 of the Code, which addresses the use of gestures that are deemed obscene, offensive, or insulting.


Under the IPL's Code of Conduct, Level 1 violations can result in fines and demerit points, with the player's acceptance of the sanctions being final and binding.


The league confirmed that David acknowledged the violation and accepted the penalty imposed by match referee Amit Sharma.


According to the IPL's announcement, "Tim David, All-rounder for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has been fined 30% of his applicable match fee and has accrued two demerit points for breaching Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials."
