Tiger Shroff's Last-Minute Withdrawal

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 11: Bollywood star Tiger Shroff has announced that he will not participate in Mumbay FC's upcoming Durand Cup 2026 match against Nongkseh SS&CC in Shillong, citing work obligations as the reason for his last-minute decision.

According to reports from Olympics.com, the 36-year-old actor, who had registered to play for Mumbay FC in their inaugural Durand Cup campaign, confirmed via a video shared by the club that he would be unable to travel to Shillong for the match at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

In the video posted on Mumbay FC's Instagram, Shroff expressed his disappointment, stating, “It’s really unfortunate, but a work commitment has come up at the last moment, so I would not be able to make it to Shillong for the Durand Cup.”

He added, “I was really looking forward to playing for my team Mumbay FC, but unfortunately, I cannot attend. Best of luck to everyone out there. The tournament has been fantastic. Go Mumbay FC, give it your all!”

Mumbay FC is set to compete against Nongkseh in their final group match after suffering defeats in their first two games against Langsning FC and Shillong Lajong, both ending in 5-0 losses.

Tiger Shroff, the son of renowned actor Jackie Shroff and producer Ayesha Shroff, is celebrated for his action-packed films, impressive dance skills, and commitment to fitness. He made his acting debut in 2014 with 'Heropanti' and has since appeared in popular films like 'Baaghi', 'War', and 'Ganapath'. Interestingly, before pursuing acting, Tiger aspired to be a professional football player, idolizing Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

He made his official football debut in October 2024, playing for Mumbay FC and achieving a 1-0 victory over Bombay Gymkhana in the Mumbai Premier League, which is part of the Indian domestic football league system.
