Suryansh Shedge Reflects on PBKS's Narrow Loss to GT in IPL 2026
Shedge Discusses PBKS's Performance Against GT
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], May 4: Following Punjab Kings' (PBKS) four-wicket loss to Gujarat Titans (GT) in their IPL 2026 match, batter Suryansh Shedge shared insights on the team's performance, emphasizing a positive outlook despite falling short of a larger score.
In his post-match comments, Shedge expressed that he did not perceive his teammates as struggling, attributing dismissals to the quality of the bowling rather than a lack of form. He mentioned that his strategy was to spend ample time at the crease, which allowed him to settle into the innings.
“I wouldn’t say others were struggling; sometimes batters get out to good deliveries. My focus was to stay at the crease for as long as possible, which made it easier as I progressed,” Shedge stated during the press conference.
Reflecting on his own dismissal, Shedge acknowledged that he might have chosen to leave the final delivery of Kagiso Rabada’s spell. He suggested that avoiding that shot could have potentially added 20-25 runs to their total, enhancing their position. Nonetheless, he believed that a score of 160 remained competitive on the pitch.
Shedge noted that despite the defeat, the team would take away positives from their performance, highlighting their commitment during the match.
“That was the last ball of Rabada’s spell. In hindsight, I could have let it go. If I had, we might have scored 20 or 25 more runs, which would have made things easier. Still, I think 160 was a fighting total. Ultimately, we gave it our all, and that’s what counts. There are many positives to take from this game,” he remarked.
On a personal level, Shedge mentioned that the match served as a valuable learning opportunity, emphasizing the importance of maintaining composure in high-pressure situations. He recognized that improved decision-making in critical moments could lead to better results in future games.
“I’ve learned to stay calmer and focused. Perhaps if I had let that ball go, things might have been different. It’s a game of ifs and buts, so I’ll be more mindful next time,” Shedge concluded.
