Sunrisers Hyderabad's Bowlers Shine in IPL Clash Against Gujarat Titans
Sunrisers Hyderabad's Impressive Bowling Performance
In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on May 12, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) showcased a disciplined bowling display, led by pacers Sakib Hussain, Praful Hinge, and captain Pat Cummins, limiting Gujarat Titans (GT) to a total of 168 runs for 5 wickets during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match.
Both Hussain and Hinge took two wickets each, while Cummins contributed with a vital wicket, effectively controlling the GT batting order.
Gujarat Titans opted to bat first, with Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill opening the innings. However, early breakthroughs from SRH saw Hinge dismiss Gill for a mere 5 runs, bringing Jos Buttler to the crease.
The pressure mounted on GT as Hinge struck again in the last over of the powerplay, sending Buttler back for just 7 runs off 11 balls, which left the Titans in a precarious position and introduced young Nishant Sindhu to the game.
Gujarat Titans concluded their powerplay at a disappointing 34 for 2, marking their lowest powerplay score of the season, while it also highlighted SRH's best powerplay bowling performance in IPL 2026 to date.
Nishant Sindhu started his innings on a positive note, hitting a six off Nitish Kumar Reddy right after the powerplay, but his innings was cut short in the 10th over when SRH's captain Cummins dismissed him, bringing Washington Sundar to bat.
Sudharsan and Sundar then worked to stabilize the innings for Gujarat Titans, forming a vital partnership and scoring runs consistently to regain momentum.
Sakib Hussain made a significant impact by breaking their partnership, dismissing Sudharsan for 61 runs, which brought Jason Holder to the crease.
Sundar managed to score 18 runs in the 19th over, hitting two fours and a six off Malinga, helping GT surpass the 150-run mark.
However, Hussain made a remarkable comeback in the final over, taking out Sundar just after he reached his half-century, as Sunrisers Hyderabad successfully restricted Gujarat Titans to 168 runs for 5 wickets.
