Sunrisers Hyderabad Secures Dominant Victory Over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026
SRH Triumphs in Final League Match
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India] - On Friday, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered a commanding performance against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their final league match of IPL 2026. SRH captain Pat Cummins expressed his satisfaction with the team's impressive 55-run victory.
In the post-match press briefing, Cummins reflected on the match, highlighting the team's strong batting and bowling efforts that led to their significant win over RCB. He noted, “Achieving the score we did was quite remarkable. The boys batted exceptionally well, and our bowling was solid. Everyone is finding their rhythm. The pitch was favorable, and we knew we needed a bit of luck. It was a close match, but ultimately, it’s a substantial win.”
Although Cummins had a challenging outing, conceding 48 runs without taking a wicket, he praised his bowling unit, particularly focusing on Sri Lankan bowler Eshan Malinga and emerging Indian talent Sakib Hussain. He stated, “They have been outstanding. I’ve learned a lot from them. Eshan has been the standout bowler this season, especially during the powerplay, with his variations and slower deliveries. And Sakib has also been impressive. It’s a captain’s dream to have such talent.”
Despite the defeat, RCB finished at the top of the league table with nine victories and five losses, accumulating 18 points. They have secured a spot in Qualifier One against the Gujarat Titans (GT), who also have 18 points but are placed second. SRH, with the same points, will compete in the eliminator match in New Chandigarh.
The identity of SRH's opponent in the eliminator is yet to be determined, but Cummins appeared unfazed about the upcoming knockout game. He remarked, “We have 5-6 days before the match. We’ll take a couple of days to rest, then head up there. The players are familiar with the ground, and we should know our opponent in the next day or two.”
Match Summary: SRH: 255/4 (Ishan Kishan 79, Abhishek Sharma 56, Rasikh Salam Dar 2/52) defeated RCB: 200/4 (Rajat Patidar 56, Venkatesh Iyer 44, Eshan Malinga 2/33).
