Sahibzada Farhan Sets New T20 World Cup Record with 320 Runs
Farhan's Historic Achievement in T20 World Cup
Sahibzada Farhan made a remarkable mark in the 2026 T20 World Cup match against Sri Lanka, becoming the record holder for the highest runs scored in a single T20 World Cup edition. He has amassed a total of 320 runs in the current ICC tournament, surpassing the previous record of 319 runs set by Virat Kohli during the 2014 T20 World Cup, a record that stood for 12 years. Kohli, who retired from T20I cricket after leading India to victory in the 2024 World Cup under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, has now been overtaken by Farhan.
This is Farhan's first appearance in a T20 World Cup, and he began the tournament with a solid 47 runs against the Netherlands, helping Pakistan successfully chase a target of 148. In the following match against the USA, he scored 73 runs off 41 balls, showcasing a strike rate of 178.04 and hitting five sixes. However, he did not score in the match against India.
Farhan's outstanding performance continued as he scored an unbeaten century against Namibia in the fourth and final league match. Despite his effort of 63 runs off 45 balls against England, Pakistan could not secure a win as they fell short while chasing a target of 165.
