Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India] - April 27: After an impressive batting display against the Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders' reliable finisher Rinku Singh shared that his approach was to stay calm following an early batting collapse. He aimed to anchor the innings until the end, maintain a steady flow of runs through smart strike rotation, and capitalize on any loose deliveries to craft a match-winning innings.

In a thrilling encounter at the Ekana Cricket Stadium during IPL 2026, KKR triumphed over LSG in a nail-biting Super Over. With the match on the line, LSG required seven runs off the final ball when Mohammed Shami hit a six over long-off, pushing the game into a Super Over.

Earlier in the match, Mohsin Khan's remarkable five-wicket haul (5/23) had put KKR's top order in jeopardy. However, Rinku Singh's outstanding unbeaten score of 83 runs off 51 balls, which included seven fours and five sixes, ignited a stunning recovery. His explosive finish, featuring four consecutive sixes in the last over, propelled KKR to a competitive total of 155/7.

In response, KKR's bowlers worked cohesively to keep LSG under constant pressure, but Shami's dramatic last-ball hit forced the match into a tense Super Over. Rinku Singh was awarded Player of the Match for his exceptional performance.

“When I came to bat, four wickets had already fallen, so I focused on how to approach the innings and aimed to take the game to the end. With four wickets down, it was crucial to keep the scoreboard moving and capitalize on loose deliveries,” Rinku Singh remarked after the match.

KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane praised his team's resilience, noting how Rinku Singh's explosive batting after the 16th over shifted the momentum in their favor. He commended the bowling unit for their unwavering belief and execution of plans, particularly the spinners, emphasizing that crucial wickets at key moments turned the tide of the game.

Rahane also acknowledged the contributions of Indian bowlers Kartik Tyagi and Vaibhav Arora, highlighting the importance of strategic clarity, effective use of ground dimensions, and maintaining composure under pressure as vital elements of their victory.

“I’m really pleased with the win. The way we played after the 16 overs, Rinku’s innings was phenomenal. That last over and gaining momentum was incredible. Our bowling was exceptional. It’s all about having faith; one wicket can change the game, and we were confident in our spinners. We knew that one wicket could turn the match in our favor. Tyagi and Vaibhav have been performing well, but we must not overlook Rinku Singh’s contribution. Being present in the moment and utilizing the longer boundary was something we discussed, and the players have been practicing. Clarity is essential for bowlers,” Rahane stated.
