RCB's Bowling Masterclass at Arun Jaitley Stadium

New Delhi [India] - On April 27, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) showcased an impressive bowling performance, led by Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, to dismiss the Delhi Capitals (DC) for a mere 75 runs in just 16.3 overs during their IPL clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

DC faced a disastrous start, finding themselves at 8/6 within the first four overs. A notable effort from Abishek Porel, who scored 30 runs off 33 balls with three boundaries, along with brief contributions from David Miller (19) and Kyle Jamieson (12), helped DC surpass the record for the lowest IPL total (49 runs).

After winning the toss and opting to bat, Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck early, removing debutant Sahil Parakh for a duck on just the second ball of the match, leaving DC at 0/1.

In the following over, Josh Hazlewood made his mark by dismissing KL Rahul, who was caught by Jitesh Sharma after top-edging a pull shot for just one run. Sameer Rizvi followed suit, nicking his first ball to Jitesh as well, leaving DC reeling at 2/3 in just 1.2 overs.

Tristan Stubbs managed to relieve some pressure with a boundary, but soon fell to Bhuvneshwar, caught at slips by Devdutt Padikkal for five runs off three balls. Captain Axar Patel also fell victim to the bowling attack, dismissed for a duck, leaving DC in dire straits at 7/5 after just 2.4 overs.

Hazlewood continued his rampage, claiming his third wicket as Nitish Rana's attempt to evade a bouncer resulted in a glove touch that was caught at gully, pushing DC to 9/6 in 3.5 overs.

By the end of the powerplay, DC was struggling at 13/6, with David Miller and Abishek Porel at the crease. This marked only the second time in IPL history that a team lost six wickets during the powerplay, a feat last seen in 2011.

Miller and Porel attempted to stabilize the innings, scoring four runs each against Rasikh Salam Dar in the seventh over. However, Miller's aggressive approach led to his downfall as he was caught for 19 runs off 18 balls, leaving DC at 43/7 after nine overs.

At the halfway mark, DC stood at 46/7, with Porel (18*) and Jamieson (1*) still at the crease. A six from Jamieson brought the team past the 50-run mark, but he soon fell to Krunal Pandya, trapped lbw for 12 runs, leaving DC at 62/8.

Suyash Sharma then bowled Kuldeep Yadav for three runs, reducing DC to 71/9. Hazlewood wrapped up the innings by dismissing Porel, who scored 30 runs off 33 balls, as DC was bowled out for 75 runs in 16.3 overs.

Hazlewood's remarkable figures of 4 wickets for just 12 runs in 3.3 overs and Bhuvneshwar's 3 for 5 in three overs were the standout performances, with Krunal, Rasikh, and Suyash each contributing with a wicket.
