RCB's Dominant Performance in Qualifier

In Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, expressed his contentment with the team's 'complete' performance following their impressive 92-run victory against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2026 Qualifier. This win has propelled RCB into the finals of the tournament.

RCB showcased a well-rounded display, highlighted by Rajat Patidar's explosive 93 runs off just 33 balls, along with significant contributions from Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya. The team's bowling attack, featuring Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jacob Duffy, also played a crucial role in this commanding win.

During the post-match press conference, Bobat emphasized the importance of teamwork, noting that the collective effort of various players has been pivotal to their success. He remarked that this balanced approach mirrors their performance from the previous season, allowing them to advance deep into the tournament.

"We are thrilled to see multiple players stepping up to secure victories. When we refer to a complete team, it reflects our consistent pattern of play from last year. We have several players contributing, which is essential for success in competitions," Bobat stated.

Bobat reiterated RCB's commitment to maintaining their style of play and ensuring that every player makes an impact when given the chance. He believes that consistent execution of roles leads to favorable outcomes.

"Today, regardless of the final score, every player had the opportunity to influence the game and apply pressure on the opposition. Our focus remains on how we play cricket, and if everyone fulfills their roles, the results will follow," he added.

Rajat Patidar was named Player of the Match for his remarkable innings, which included nine sixes and five fours. Coming in at a crucial moment, he formed a 95-run partnership with Krunal Pandya and a 40-run partnership with Jitesh Sharma, helping RCB reach a formidable total of 254 runs for five wickets.

Bobat praised Patidar's exceptional form throughout the tournament, calling his performance in such a high-stakes match a significant boost for the team's morale.

"He has been in outstanding form, and today's innings was particularly special. It’s encouraging to see him excel in a critical qualifier, which will undoubtedly enhance the team's overall confidence," Bobat remarked.

Patidar, who led RCB to their first IPL title last year, has continued to shine this season, amassing 486 runs at an average of 44.18 and a strike rate of 196.76.

Bobat noted that Patidar's aggressive batting and calm demeanor as a leader have been instrumental in building the team's confidence. He highlighted Patidar's growth as a captain, becoming increasingly resilient under pressure.

"A captain performing well instills greater confidence in the team. His innings today were remarkable, showcasing aggressive intent and leadership by example. His calm nature has been a standout quality, and with each game, he gains more experience, which will bolster his confidence and resilience," Bobat explained.

After being put to bat first by GT, RCB set a daunting target of 254 runs, thanks to stellar performances from Patidar, Kohli, and Pandya.

In response, GT's batting lineup crumbled, with only Rahul Tewatia and Jos Buttler managing to score above 20 runs, leading to their total of 162 runs. Jacob Duffy and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were instrumental in dismantling GT's top order.

This marks RCB's fifth appearance in the IPL finals, placing them third behind the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in terms of final appearances.
