RCB's Commanding Victory Over Delhi Capitals

New Delhi [India], April 27: In a remarkable display of fast bowling, Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a convincing nine-wicket victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday.

This triumph marks RCB's sixth win in eight matches, bringing their total points to 12 and placing them second in the standings. Conversely, DC's fifth loss leaves them in seventh place with three wins.

Choosing to bowl first, RCB's bowlers excelled, with Hazlewood claiming 4 wickets for just 12 runs and Bhuvneshwar taking 3 for 5, restricting DC to a mere 75 runs in 16.3 overs. Abishek Porel (30) and David Miller (19) were the only batsmen to show some resistance.

In response, RCB's batting lineup quickly took charge, with Jacob Bethell (20 off 10 balls), Devdutt Padikkal (34* off 13 balls), and Virat Kohli (25* off 13 balls) completing the chase in just 6.3 overs.

Initially, RCB started slowly, scoring only 13 runs in the first two overs, but Bethell soon turned the tide by hitting two consecutive sixes off Kyle Jamieson. However, Jamieson managed to dismiss him shortly after, leaving RCB at 26/1.

Padikkal then took control, hitting two fours and two sixes in the fifth over, pushing RCB's score to 60. Kohli finished the match with two sixes, marking his 9,000 IPL runs as RCB reached 77/1.

Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar's fiery spells dismantled DC, who found themselves in dire straits at 8/6 within the first four overs. Porel's 30 runs and brief contributions from Miller and Jamieson helped DC surpass the record for the lowest IPL total.

Bhuvneshwar set the tone by dismissing debutant Sahil Parakh for a duck, and Hazlewood followed suit by taking the crucial wicket of KL Rahul. DC's batting lineup crumbled, with their powerplay ending at a dismal 13/6, marking only the second instance of a team losing six wickets in the powerplay in IPL history.

Despite a brief partnership between Miller and Porel, DC struggled to build momentum. They managed to reach 50 runs but ultimately fell to 75 all out, with Hazlewood's exceptional figures of 4/12 and Bhuvneshwar's 3/5 being the standout performances.
