RCB Dominates DC in IPL Clash: Patidar Praises Bowlers
RCB's Commanding Victory Over Delhi Capitals
New Delhi [India] - After a decisive victory against the Delhi Capitals (DC), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar expressed his astonishment at the wicket's behavior and commended his bowlers, especially Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood, for their outstanding performance.
For the numerous DC fans present at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the anticipated showdown between KL Rahul and local hero Virat Kohli, now representing RCB, quickly turned into a nightmare as DC struggled against the formidable pace attack of Bhuvneshwar and Hazlewood.
Facing the bowlers' precision and the unpredictable bounce of the pitch, DC found themselves in dire straits at 8/6. Abishek Porel (30), along with David Miller (19) and Kyle Jamieson (12), attempted to stabilize the innings, but their efforts fell short against the reigning champions.
In his post-match comments, Patidar remarked, “I was also taken aback by how the wicket behaved. Full credit goes to the bowlers – Hazlewood and Bhuvi, for their exceptional bowling during the powerplay. Securing early wickets was crucial and kept us in control.”
Patidar noted that the team had strategized to divide the powerplay between their leading pacers if they managed to take early wickets. He also praised spinner Suyash Sharma for his effective “stump-to-stump” bowling, finishing with impressive figures of 1/7 in four overs.
“We had planned for Bhuvneshwar and Hazlewood to bowl three overs each if we got early breakthroughs. Suyash's ability to generate spin and bowl accurately was a delight to witness. It's vital to stick to our routines. We still have a long journey ahead, focusing on one game at a time. The positive takeaway is that various players are stepping up for the team. A strong bowling lineup is essential on flat pitches in T20 cricket, as bowlers can lead you to championships,” he concluded.
This victory marks RCB's sixth win in eight matches, bringing their points total to 12 and placing them second in the standings. Meanwhile, DC's fifth loss, with three wins, keeps them in seventh place on the points table.
RCB chose to bowl first, and exceptional performances from Hazlewood (4/12) and Bhuvneshwar (3/5) restricted DC to just 75 runs in 16.3 overs, with Abishek Porel (30) and David Miller (19) providing some resistance. RCB's batting lineup responded aggressively, with Jacob Bethell scoring 20 runs off 10 balls, Devdutt Padikkal hitting 34* off 13 balls, and Virat Kohli contributing 25* off 13 balls, completing the chase in just 6.3 overs.
