Dramatic Finish in Raipur

In a nail-biting encounter in Raipur, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) triumphed over the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 2 wickets, thanks to a stellar performance from Krunal Pandya and a crucial six from Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the final ball. Corbin Bosch's impressive four-wicket haul was overshadowed by Pandya's explosive 73 runs off 46 balls, which included four fours and five sixes.

This victory marks RCB's second last-ball win against MI, following a similar chase in Chennai during the 2021 season.

With this win, RCB ascends to the top of the IPL standings with seven victories from 11 matches, while MI languishes in ninth place with only three wins.

RCB began their chase of a target set at 167 with Jacob Bethell and Virat Kohli. However, Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck by Deepak Chahar in the first over, marking his second consecutive duck in IPL history. Chahar struck again shortly after, removing Devdutt Padikkal for just 12 runs, leaving RCB in a precarious position.

RCB captain Rajat Patidar also fell victim to Bosch, who claimed his wicket for 8 runs during the power-play. Pandya and Bethell then steadied the innings, reaching 74-3 after 10 overs.

Bosch continued to shine, taking the wicket of Bethell for 27 runs in the 13th over, while Jitesh Sharma joined the fray. Bosch's remarkable 13th over saw him take a wicket without conceding any runs, making him the first bowler to bowl a maiden over in the middle overs of IPL 2026.

Sharma, looking to regain form, hit a massive six off Raj Bawa, but Bosch struck again, dismissing him for 18 runs. Tim David then came to the crease but was also dismissed for a golden duck by Bosch.

Pandya kept RCB's hopes alive, hitting two sixes off AM Ghazanfar before being dismissed for 73 runs. Bumrah's exceptional 19th over limited RCB's scoring opportunities, but Bhuvneshwar Kumar's timely six and Rasikh Salam Dar's calm two runs in the final over secured the win for RCB.

Earlier, Bhuvneshwar Kumar's four-wicket haul had restricted MI to 166/7. He made an immediate impact, taking three quick wickets and later dismissing Tilak Varma, finishing with figures of 4/23 in 4 overs.

Despite Bhuvneshwar's efforts, MI's Naman Dhir and Tilak Varma managed to put together a solid partnership, scoring 82 runs to stabilize the innings after a shaky start.

RCB's Rasikh Salam Dar provided a crucial breakthrough by dismissing Naman for 47 runs, while Romario Shepherd also contributed by taking out Will Jacks. Tilak reached his fifty but was ultimately dismissed by Bhuvneshwar, leaving MI at 155/6.

In the end, MI could only muster 166 runs, with RCB successfully chasing down the target in a thrilling finish.
