Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 1: Fans are once again in a celebratory mood as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched their second consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) title, led by Virat Kohli and captain Rajat Patidar.
A now-famous image shows the cricket legend Virat and skipper Rajat proudly lifting large golden stars, symbolizing their triumphs, as the celebrations erupted following their decisive win against Gujarat in the final. This image, shared after the match on Sunday, resonated widely on social media, with each star representing a championship and highlighting the significance of this remarkable season.
PUMA, the team's kit sponsor, marked the occasion with a visual campaign titled, "Good Things Come in Pairs."
With back-to-back IPL victories and two titles from the Women’s Premier League, the Bengaluru franchise has solidified its status as a powerhouse in Indian cricket.
In the final match, RCB batted first, with Gujarat Titans (GT) managing to score only 155 runs for 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Washington Sundar was the standout performer with the bat, scoring 50 runs off 37 balls, while Nishant Sindhu contributed 20 runs. RCB's bowlers, including Rasikh Dar Salam (3/27), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/29), and Josh Hazlewood (2/37), consistently took wickets.
RCB's innings began strongly with a partnership of 62 runs between Venkatesh Iyer (32 runs off 16 balls) and Virat Kohli. Although GT fought back, reducing RCB to 132/5 at one stage, Virat's unbeaten 75 runs off 42 balls, featuring nine fours and three sixes, led RCB to victory with two overs to spare.
This marks RCB's second IPL title and their fourth overall in Indian franchise cricket, including two Women’s Premier League titles.
