RCB's Struggles Highlighted by Captain Patidar

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India] - April 30: After a four-wicket loss to the Gujarat Titans (GT), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar admitted that his team's batting performance fell short. However, he commended the bowlers for their resilience in tough conditions.

During the post-match presentation, Patidar acknowledged that RCB's score was inadequate but praised the bowlers for maintaining competitiveness throughout the match.

“The total we posted was not sufficient for this pitch, but our bowling performance was commendable and kept us in the game,” Patidar remarked.

He noted the pitch's favorable conditions for fast bowlers and credited GT's Shubman Gill for his impactful innings that shifted the game's momentum.

“The grass cover on the pitch aided the fast bowlers, and Shubman's performance was exceptional, putting us under pressure,” he added.

Patidar pointed out that RCB's downfall in the middle overs was a significant factor in their defeat. “We lost too many wickets during that phase, which put us at a disadvantage,” he explained.

He also lauded veteran bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar for his impressive early spell, stating, “His experience showed, and he bowled brilliantly in the first half.”

The RCB captain emphasized the need to maintain focus on the tournament's long-term goals. “We have a long journey ahead, and we will approach each game individually. Our focus is on playing quality cricket, not just the standings,” he said.

In their IPL 2026 encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, GT triumphed over the defending champions with a well-rounded performance in both batting and bowling.

RCB, after a promising start led by Virat Kohli, faced a dramatic collapse, getting bowled out for 155 in 19.2 overs. Arshad Khan (3/22), Rashid Khan (2/19), and Jason Holder (2/29) were instrumental in dismantling the batting lineup.

GT began their chase aggressively with Shubman Gill (43 off 18 balls) and Jos Buttler (39 off 19 balls) setting the tone. Despite losing wickets in the middle overs, Rahul Tewatia (27) and Rashid Khan ensured a disciplined victory for the Titans.
