Record-Breaking Performance by Punjab Kings

In New Chandigarh, Punjab, on April 19, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) showcased an extraordinary batting display as Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly dominated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowlers during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match. Their remarkable performance not only led to a significant victory but also secured their place in the record books by forming the third 150-plus partnership in PBKS's IPL history.

The record for the highest partnership for PBKS remains at 206 runs, achieved by Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh against RCB in 2011, followed by KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal's 183-run stand against RR in 2020. Arya and Connolly's impressive 182-run partnership against LSG in 2026 now joins this elite list.

This partnership also ranks as the fourth-highest run-rate for a 100-plus stand for PBKS, with David Miller and R Sathish's explosive 130* stand at a run-rate of 15.91 in 2013 still holding the top spot, followed by notable contributions from Liam Livingstone-Jitesh Sharma and Deepak Hooda-KL Rahul.

The recent 182-run collaboration between Arya and Connolly was not only significant in terms of runs but also in its intensity, achieving a run-rate of 13.65.

PBKS delivered a record-setting batting performance, scoring 254/7 against LSG in their IPL 2026 encounter at Mullanpur, bolstered by half-centuries from both Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly. Arya scored an impressive 93 runs off 37 balls, including four fours and nine sixes, while Connolly contributed 87 runs off 46 balls.

In the match, LSG won the toss and chose to bowl first. After an early loss of Prabhsimran Singh, the explosive 182-run partnership between Priyansh (93 runs in 37 balls, with four boundaries and nine sixes) and Cooper Connolly (87 runs in 46 balls, with eight fours and seven sixes) dismantled the LSG bowling attack.

Cameos from Marcus Stoinis (29* off 16 balls, with two fours and two sixes) and Shashank Singh (17* off six balls, including a four and a six) propelled PBKS to a total of 254/7 in 20 overs, despite a commendable late comeback from LSG in terms of wickets.
