Punjab Kings Kick Off Off-Season Training Camp in Chandigarh
Punjab Kings Launches Skill Development Camp
The Punjab Kings, an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, commenced a five-day off-season training camp at the New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on August 11.
This camp is dedicated to enhancing player skills, allowing them to focus on specific aspects of their game without the pressure of matches. It is set to conclude on August 15, as stated in a press release from the franchise.
Participating in this camp are six players: Prabhsimran Singh, Shashank Singh, Harpreet Brar, Pyla Avinash, Praveen Dubey, and Nehal Wadhera. This group features a blend of seasoned players and rising stars, providing the coaching staff an opportunity to engage with athletes at various stages of their careers.
The training sessions will be conducted under the guidance of the franchise's coaching team, with Trevor Gonsalves leading the activities at the venue.
This initiative is part of the franchise's broader off-season strategy, aimed at helping players refine their skills. This camp marks the first of several planned throughout the off-season to ensure players remain sharp and prepared ahead of the upcoming season.
Additional camps, targeting different player groups with a focus on skill enhancement and fitness, are scheduled for the coming months. The franchise aims to establish a solid foundation for the upcoming year during this off-season period.
In their latest IPL season, the Punjab Kings secured fifth place, narrowly missing the playoffs. In the IPL 2025 season, they finished as runners-up, losing a closely contested final to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by just six runs.
Key players for the Punjab Kings include renowned Indian batsman and captain Shreyas Iyer, skilled leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, leading left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, and experienced all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.
