New Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], April 28: In a remarkable display of power hitting, Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder played a pivotal role in guiding his team to a formidable score of 222/4 in their 20 overs during the IPL 2026 match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday.


Thanks to Stoinis' explosive batting, PBKS managed to accumulate 41 runs in the final two overs, setting a daunting target of 223 runs for the RR team led by Riyan Parag.


Opting to bat first, the PBKS, under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, made an aggressive start with opener Priyansh Arya. Displaying remarkable confidence, Arya tore through the RR bowling attack, scoring 29 runs off just 11 balls before Jofra Archer claimed the first wicket for the Royals in the third over. Arya's quick-fire innings, which included five fours and a six, propelled PBKS to 37/1 within three overs.


Young talent Cooper Connolly continued the momentum with a brisk 30 runs off 14 balls, but it was Prabhsimran Singh who steadied the innings during the middle overs. Singh played a well-paced innings, scoring 59 runs off 44 balls, ensuring that the scoreboard kept moving despite the Royals' spinners attempting to slow down the run rate.


While captain Iyer contributed a steady 30 runs off 27 balls, it was Marcus Stoinis who stole the show, transforming a competitive total into an imposing one. Coming in towards the end, the Australian all-rounder smashed an unbeaten 62 runs off just 22 balls, achieving a staggering strike rate of 281.82. His innings featured six sixes and four fours, leading PBKS to their final score of 222/4.


The Rajasthan Royals' bowling attack faced a challenging outing. Yash Raj Punja was the standout bowler with figures of 2/41, claiming the vital wickets of Connolly and Prabhsimran. However, the rest of the bowling unit struggled to contain the runs.


Jofra Archer (1/40 in 4 overs) and Nandre Burger each took a wicket but were costly, with Burger conceding 59 runs in his four overs. The most significant damage was inflicted during the death overs, as Punjab added over 60 runs in the last four overs of their innings.
