Punjab Kings Concludes Fitness Camp in Bengaluru

From September 14 to 17, the Punjab Kings wrapped up a rigorous four-day off-season fitness camp in Bengaluru, organized in partnership with Stance Health.

This camp aimed to enhance both the physical and mental preparedness of players for the upcoming domestic season and the next Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign. Participants included franchise players such as Shashank Singh, Priyansh Arya, Pyla Avinash, and Vishal Nishad, as stated in a recent announcement.

Following a skill-focused camp held at the team's base in New Chandigarh from August 11 to 15, the franchise plans to host additional specialized camps across the country in the months leading up to the IPL season.

The Bengaluru camp emphasized overall athletic readiness, incorporating personalized strength and conditioning routines, mobility drills, structured nutrition plans, and advanced recovery methods. The focus was not solely on match skills but also on helping players set physical benchmarks, manage their workloads, and prevent injuries.

Shashank Singh highlighted the necessity of year-round commitment for elite athletes, stating, “This is the first fitness camp of the year. Many think the IPL is just a three-month tournament, but it requires a full 12-month dedication for players at this level. Competing in one of the world's top leagues demands hard work. This camp is entirely focused on fitness, diet, and training, ensuring we are well-prepared ahead of the season.”

Priyansh Arya emphasized the importance of scientific conditioning, noting that the specialized facilities and targeted programs at Stance Health significantly enhance player recovery. “As the season nears, our goal is to maximize quality training and reach peak physical condition. The facilities, especially the dedicated physiotherapy and strength programs, cater to our individual needs. In modern cricket, quick and effective recovery is crucial over a long season.”

The camp's schedule balanced high-intensity workouts with structured recovery and team bonding activities. Mornings began with mobility and gym sessions, followed by conditioning drills in the afternoon, and concluded with pool and therapeutic recovery sessions in the evenings.

“We start our mornings with mobility and gym work, followed by a team lunch. In the evenings, we focus on conditioning and finish with recovery sessions. This routine allows us quality time together, fostering growth both individually and as a team. Building strong relationships off the field is just as important as our performance on it,” Shashank Singh remarked.

Arya commended the franchise's proactive approach, noting that Punjab Kings provides continuous administrative and training support throughout the year. “While the IPL spans three months, Punjab Kings monitors our progress and supports us for the entire nine months of the off-season. Whether we need to train in Mumbai, Bengaluru, or attend camps in Chandigarh, the franchise organizes everything promptly. This level of support instills immense confidence in players.”

Reflecting on his experience with the franchise, Shashank credited the supportive team culture for fostering long-term player development and loyalty. “Punjab Kings has completely transformed my career. The franchise's backing during tough times is rare, and I am incredibly thankful for it. The management, players, and owners treat us like family, which inspires us to give our all on the field.”

As the domestic season approaches, players will return to their respective state teams before reconvening for the next phase of franchise preparations.
