This victory allowed them to break their own world record, successfully chasing a daunting total of 265 runs with seven balls to spare. This win marks their sixth triumph in seven matches during the 2026 Indian Premier League, maintaining their unbeaten streak (with one match washed out).

After winning the toss, DC opted to bat first, setting a formidable target of 263 runs, largely thanks to KL Rahul's explosive 152 runs off 67 balls. In response, PBKS's Priyansh Arya (43 runs off 17 balls) and Prabhsimran Singh (76 runs off 26 balls) propelled the team to a strong start, achieving 116 runs in the powerplay with a 119-run opening partnership. Shreyas Iyer's impressive 76 runs off 31 balls sealed the victory for the table-toppers.

The successful chase of 264 runs is now the highest in T20 cricket history globally. Punjab Kings have set this record twice, making them the only team to have chased totals exceeding 260 runs in T20 cricket.
