Pat Cummins Set to Return for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL Clash Against Rajasthan Royals
Cummins' Comeback Announcement
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India] - April 24: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) fast bowler Pat Cummins has indicated his return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the upcoming match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) this Saturday in Jaipur.
Recent scans on his back have cleared Cummins to rejoin the IPL 2026, providing a significant boost to SRH as they navigate a pivotal stage in the tournament. The team's captain had traveled back to Australia earlier this month for follow-up evaluations concerning a lumbar stress injury that has restricted his play since July of the previous year, resulting in his absence from four out of five home Ashes Tests and the entire ICC T20 World Cup.
He has also missed a significant portion of the IPL season, with Ishan Kishan stepping in as captain during his absence.
On Instagram, Cummins shared images of himself bowling in the nets, captioning it, "Been a long time coming, stinging to get back into it tomorrow."
Even in Cummins' absence, SRH has performed admirably this season, securing four victories and suffering three defeats, placing them fourth in the standings. Although the pace duo of Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat struggled initially, the pace attack featuring Eshan Malinga (12 wickets), Sakib Hussain (six wickets), and Praful Hinge (five wickets) has excelled, complemented by significant contributions from spinners Harsh Dubey (eight wickets) and Shivang Kumar (five wickets).
Key players in the SRH batting lineup include Abhishek Sharma (323 runs in seven innings at an average of 53.83 and a strike rate of 215.33, with one century and two fifties), Heinrich Klaasen (320 runs in seven innings at an average of 53.33 and a strike rate of 153.11, including three fifties), and captain Ishan Kishan (238 runs in seven innings at an average of 34.00 and a strike rate of 188.88).
Since taking over as captain in the 2024 season, Cummins has claimed 34 wickets in 30 matches for SRH, averaging 29.88, with his best performance being 3/19. He also has the ability to contribute valuable runs down the order.
