Pat Cummins' Absence Continues as SRH Faces RR in IPL 2026

As Sunrisers Hyderabad prepares to face Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026, the absence of captain Pat Cummins due to a back injury raises questions. Cummins, who has not played this season, is currently recovering and has shared updates on his progress. Fans are eager for his return as SRH looks to secure a win in this crucial match. Read on to find out more about Cummins' recovery and the match details.

SRH vs RR: Match Overview

In the 21st match of IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is set to take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Ishan Kishan is at the helm for the Orange Army, while fans are still awaiting the return of Pat Cummins. The SRH captain has yet to participate in any matches this season, leading to growing anticipation among supporters.

Pat Cummins arrived in India prior to the IPL 2026 season and engaged in practice sessions with his team. However, he has since returned to Australia, and there have been no recent updates regarding his status. The primary reason for Cummins' absence is his recovery from a back injury. He participated in only one match during the 2025/26 Ashes series and missed the entire 2026 T20 World Cup.

In a recent podcast, Cummins provided insights into his recovery, stating, "I'm still recovering from a back injury, but it's good. I'm back bowling in the nets. The IPL is starting soon. I won't make the start of that, but it shouldn't be too long before I'm back out there playing. I'm back bowling. I'm bowling basically every third day at the moment. We've mapped out a plan to get me right by [the] middle of the tournament, so hopefully, if nothing goes wrong, [I'll] play the back half plus the finals."
