Mumbai Indians Secure Tara Norris in Trade Ahead of WPL 2027
Mumbai Indians Make Strategic Move for Tara Norris
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 12: The Mumbai Indians (MI) have successfully traded for USA left-arm seamer Tara Norris from UP Warriorz (UPW) at her base price of INR 10 lakh, just in time for the upcoming 2027 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season.
In the inaugural WPL season of 2023, Norris made headlines while playing for Delhi Capitals, where she became the first bowler to achieve a five-wicket haul in the tournament's history. She recorded impressive figures of 5 for 29 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Brabourne Stadium, taking down notable players such as Ellyse Perry, Heather Knight, and Richa Ghosh.
Initially signed by UP Warriorz during the mega auction for the 2025 season, Norris opted out to represent the USA in the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier.
Her addition to the Mumbai Indians will allow the team to include five overseas players in their lineup, as players from Associate nations are not counted against the overseas-player limit.
This will be Norris' second experience with an MI franchise, having played for MI London in the Women’s Hundred earlier this year, where she took four wickets across six matches with an economy rate of 7.83.
At MI, she will reunite with head coach Luke Williams, who was her assistant coach at Southern Brave during the 2021 edition of The Hundred.
Alongside Norris, MI boasts a strong pace-bowling lineup featuring Shabnim Ismail, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amanjot Kaur, and Nicola Carey. The franchise has clinched two titles in the first four seasons of the WPL.
