In a heartfelt gesture, the Mumbai Indians (MI) will don black armbands during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday at Wankhede Stadium. This tribute is in memory of a support staff member's daughter who has sadly passed away.

The franchise made this announcement through an official statement, emphasizing their commitment to support the grieving family during this difficult time.

“In remembrance of our support staff's daughter, Mumbai Indians players will wear black armbands today, showing solidarity with the family,” the statement read.

In the match, MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bat first. The team is looking to improve their performance after a challenging season, having lost five out of their seven matches so far, including a significant 103-run defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Conversely, Sunrisers Hyderabad are in excellent form, riding a four-match winning streak and securing five victories out of their seven matches in IPL 2026. They aim to extend their winning run against MI.
