Mumbai Indians Begin Pre-Season Training for IPL 2026

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 16: The Mumbai Indians, who have clinched the IPL title five times, officially launched their pre-season training on Monday, marking the start of their preparations for the IPL 2026 season.


Head coach Mahela Jayawardene spearheaded the initial training session, accompanied by bowling coaches Paras Mhambrey and Lasith Malinga, along with fielding coach Carl Hopkinson and the complete strength and conditioning and physiotherapy teams, as stated in a recent announcement.


Mahela Jayawardene expressed his excitement, saying, “The first day of pre-season always carries a unique vibe. Watching the players arrive and the energy in the air is invigorating. Our goal is to kick off strong. We have a mix of familiar faces and some thrilling new additions to the team.”


He further emphasized, “The first day sets the foundation for our entire campaign. We want everyone to grasp the intent from the outset, in our training, preparation, and mutual support. While the first session is thrilling, it also marks the beginning of serious work as we focus on our goals.”


The initial group of players to report for training includes Shardul Thakur, Mayank Markande, Allah Ghazanfar, Naman Dhir, Raja Angad Bawa, Robin Minz, Raghu Sharma, Mayank Rawat, Danish Malewar, Mohammad Izhar, and Ashwani Kumar.


The session commenced with a well-structured fitness and conditioning segment, where the strength and conditioning team engaged players in movement drills, agility exercises, and fitness evaluations.


The remaining squad members are anticipated to join the training camp in the upcoming days as the intensity of preparations ramps up ahead of the tournament.
