Reasons for Starc's Absence in Initial Matches

Why Starc Missed Initial Games Of IPL 2026

Starc was unable to participate in the early matches of IPL 2026 due to injuries to his elbow and shoulder sustained during the Australian summer. There were widespread speculations regarding his potential absence from the tournament, prompting Starc to clarify the situation. He stated, “Despite the opinions and views of certain individuals with their platforms in and through the Indian media, I’m currently rehabbing and managing an injury in my shoulder and elbow.”

He further expressed frustration over the misinformation circulating about his fitness, saying, “These individuals have made some strong statements around involvement in the IPL and provided heavily misinformed opinions of players, preached them as facts, and claim to know my body better than me.”

Starc last featured in the Big Bash League after leading the Australian bowling attack during the Ashes series, where he played all five matches and was awarded the player of the series. Last season, he was a standout performer for the Capitals, taking 14 wickets in 11 games. Before facing RR, DC will compete against the Punjab Kings on April 25 and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 27, aiming to secure victories to improve their standings in the league.
