KL Rahul Achieves Milestone in IPL History

New Delhi [India] - On May 8, Indian cricketer KL Rahul made a remarkable achievement by becoming the first player to accumulate over 1,000 runs for three different franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

This milestone was reached during a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he scored 23 runs off 14 balls, hitting four boundaries and maintaining a strike rate exceeding 164.

Rahul is now the 11th player to reach 1,000 runs for the Delhi Capitals (DC), amassing a total of 1,007 runs in just 24 innings, boasting an impressive average of 50.35 and a strike rate of 162.41. His record includes two centuries and six fifties, with a personal best of 152 not out. His 24 innings mark the fastest to 1,000 runs for DC, surpassing the previous record of 35 innings held by JP Duminy and Rishabh Pant.

This season, KL Rahul stands as DC's leading run-scorer and ranks third overall in the league with 468 runs from 11 innings, averaging 46.80 and achieving a strike rate of 180, which includes one century and three fifties, with a top score of 152.

Prior to this, he had also crossed the 1,000-run threshold for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). For PBKS, he is the top run-scorer with 2,548 runs in 55 matches, averaging 56.62 and a strike rate of 139.76, including two centuries and 23 fifties.

At LSG, he ranks as the second-highest run-scorer, having scored 1,410 runs in 38 matches, with an average of 41.47 and a strike rate of 130.67, which includes two centuries and 10 fifties.

Although KL has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he did not reach the 1,000-run mark with those teams, scoring 308 runs in 20 matches for SRH, with a best score of 46, and 417 runs in 19 matches for RCB, including four fifties in 14 innings.

In the match against KKR, the latter won the toss and chose to field first. After a partnership of 49 runs between Pathum Nissanka (who scored 50 off 29 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes) and KL, DC found themselves struggling at 89/5, with Anukul Roy taking 2 wickets for 31 runs in four overs. The KKR spinners, Varun Chakravarthy (0/28) and Sunil Narine (1/17), applied significant pressure during the middle overs, while Kartik Tyagi claimed two vital wickets for 25 runs. Ashutosh Sharma managed to score 39 runs off 28 balls, helping DC reach a total of 142/8 in their 20 overs.
