KKR Secures Crucial Win Against SRH

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 3: Angkrish Raghuvanshi, a batter for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), emphasized the significance of their recent victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and expressed hope that the team can maintain their winning streak in the IPL 2026 season.

Under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, KKR showcased a strong bowling display, limiting SRH to a total of 165 runs in their innings. SRH began their innings with vigor, thanks to a rapid 61 runs off just 27 balls from Travis Head, which propelled them to 105/1 by the ninth over and 107/2 at the halfway mark. Ishan Kishan also contributed with a solid 42 runs, keeping the innings on track for a substantial score.

However, KKR made a remarkable comeback during the middle overs. Varun Chakravarthy was instrumental in this turnaround, claiming 3 wickets for 36 runs in 4 overs. Sunil Narine and Kartik Tyagi also played pivotal roles, each taking 2 wickets for 31 and 30 runs, respectively. Anukul Roy, Cameron Green, and Vaibhav Arora each added a wicket, leading to SRH's collapse from a promising position to being all out for 165.

In pursuit of 166 runs, Angkrish Raghuvanshi (59 runs off 47 balls) and Ajinkya Rahane (43 runs off 36 balls) successfully guided KKR to victory with seven wickets in hand and 10 balls to spare.

Raghuvanshi, who was awarded Player of the Match for his performance, remarked on the importance of securing wins in a lengthy tournament, stating that building momentum now could propel the team forward.

“In a long tournament, wins are very important. As you saw at the start, when you’re not winning, it’s tough to come back. But now that we’re winning, the momentum can carry us forward, and hopefully we can keep that going,” he shared during the post-match press conference.

This victory against SRH marked KKR's third consecutive win of the season, following a challenging start that included five straight losses and a no-result.

Reflecting on his innings, Raghuvanshi mentioned that he concentrated on staying present and simply watching the ball, which helped him avoid overthinking the score.

“I was just being in the moment and watching the ball. I wasn’t thinking too much about the score or anything—just trying to watch the ball, and I think that helped me,” he concluded.
