Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India] - As the Kashi Rudras gear up for a pivotal playoff match against the Noida Kings in the UPT20 League 2026, left-arm spinner Kartik Yadav expressed that the defending champions are maintaining a "cool, relaxed, calm, and composed" mindset to keep their title hopes alive.

Despite facing a challenging league phase with four consecutive losses, Kashi Rudras bounced back to secure their spot in the playoffs. Kartik is optimistic, believing the team has gained valuable insights from their earlier struggles.

"The atmosphere in our dressing room has always been very positive and relaxed. It feels like we are all together, engaging in meaningful conversations," Kartik shared.

The upcoming match at Lucknow's Ekana Cricket Stadium is a must-win for Kashi Rudras, as the losing team will be eliminated from the title race. Kartik emphasized the importance of resilience during tough times in a tournament.

"Initially, we were on a winning streak, but we faced a setback with four losses. From that experience, we learned to stay hopeful. We play as a unit, and we must not be disheartened by losses, as ups and downs are part of cricket. We should keep pushing forward, and I believe we can win the final," he stated.

At just 19 years old, Kartik has emerged as a key player for Kashi Rudras this season, taking 10 wickets. His standout performance came in the final league match against Meerut Mavericks, where he achieved figures of 3/12 in four overs, helping his team secure a 56-run victory.

"Contributing to the team's success feels great, whether in this match or any other. I strive to give my all as a bowler, batter, and fielder. Our recent win was a positive sign, and we are feeling confident heading into the match in Lucknow," Kartik remarked.

Originating from Prayagraj, Kartik has progressed through the domestic cricket ranks, having trained in Ghaziabad and played Under-19 cricket before joining the UP domestic circuit. He made his Ranji Trophy debut last season and has also served as a net bowler for the Delhi Capitals.

Playing alongside seasoned players at Kashi Rudras has significantly aided his understanding of the demands of higher-level cricket.

"As a young player, I learn a lot from those who have been competing at a higher level for years. They teach me about discipline, creating a positive cricketing environment, managing pressure, and improving as both a player and a person. My two years at Kashi have been incredibly beneficial, thanks to the captain and coaching staff," he explained.

Kartik admires Ravindra Jadeja for his all-around skills and Hardik Pandya for his mindset. He prefers to concentrate on the present rather than setting long-term goals.

"I haven't made any long-term plans; the future is unpredictable. What matters is how we can improve our practice and performance day by day. I focus on that rather than worrying about what lies ahead," he added.

He fondly recalled his Ranji Trophy debut last year, where he achieved a five-wicket haul, calling it a dream come true while acknowledging the challenges posed by experienced domestic players.

The winner of the match between Kashi Rudras and Noida Kings will face the loser of the other playoff match between Meerut Mavericks and Lucknow Falcons for a chance to compete in the final, scheduled for September 6.
